Labor Gives Back to the Community

The Labor/Management Health Care Coalition of the Upper Midwest strongly believes in giving back to the communities where we live and work. Attendees at our 2017 Health & Benefit Fair are encouraged to participate in these programs while attending the fair.

Donate to the Emergency Food Shelf Network

Bring canned or boxed food donations to the Health & Benefit Fair. All donations collected will be distributed through the Emergency Food Shelf Network to needy families throughout Minnesota. Our 2016 fair collected over 1,000 pounds of food and our goal is to double that amount in 2017. Just look for the food shelf collection containers as you enter the fair. The Emergency Food Shelf Network also accepts cash donations.

For a list of preferred donations, visit the EFN website at www.emergencyfoodshelf.org

Donate Blood to the Memorial Blood Centers

If not personally in need, at some point we will all know a friend, neighbor, family member, or co-worker who needs a blood transfusion. In fact, 1 out of 3 people will need blood in their lifetime. From natural disasters to unforeseen catastrophes, emergency hospital procedures to life-long battles with chronic diseases such as sickle cell, the demand for blood is constant. The supply is not. And since there is no substitute, only volunteer blood donors can roll up their sleeves and save lives.

Visit the Bloodmobile on the show floor to learn how you can give blood to save a life.

Learn Your Blood Type

Memorial Blood Centers will also be offering free blood typing during the 2017 fair. Stop by the Bloodmobile to learn your blood type because you never know when an emergency will require you to give or receive blood. The life you save may be your own.
